Handling Dates in QQube for QuickBooks

Calendar DIMENSIONS

QQube Technology contains special Date DIMENSIONS that allows for multiple variations of a single date, e.g. Weekday name, Month name, day in year, day in quarter.

There are two types of calendar dimensions:

One is for use in a DAX time pattern measure which allows you to drill down e.g. year-to- quarter-to-month, using transaction date.
The other is for dates that would primarily embellish the data on a report e.g. discount date, trip start date where you typically would not establish a drill down mechanism.

The first type is a combination of Calendar and Fiscal capabilities.

The second type is only calendar.

Document Single Dates

We also have single date fields, because tools like Microsoft Excel and Tableau have added dimension-like features directly in their tools, thereby abating the need for the QQube Date fields.

Power Calendars for PowerPivot and Power BI

For PowerPivot and Power BI it is always best to use the dimensions.
